Justin Bieber Fan Club in Sicily
February 3rd, 2010 Posted 12:35 pm
Justin Drew Bieber, born March 1, 1994 is a Canadian pop/R&B singer. He was discovered on YouTube by Scooter Braun, who later became his manager. Braun flew Bieber to Atlanta, Georgia, to consult with Usher and soon signed a record deal with Island Records, where he began his professional career.
The first part of his two-part debut album My World was released on November 17, 2009. Four successful pre-album singles have been released: “One Time”, “One Less Lonely Girl”, “Love Me”, and “Favorite Girl”, which were Top 15 hits on the Canadian Hot 100 and Top 40 hits on the Billboard Hot 100. This accomplishment made Bieber the only artist in Billboard history to have four singles from a debut album chart in the Top 40 of the Hot 100 before the album’s release. The album received positive reviews from critics, and debuted at #6 on the U.S. Billboard 200, selling 137,000 copies in its first week, which was the second best opening release for a new artist in 2009. Bieber also became the first artist to have all songs from a single album to chart in the U.S. Hot 100. It also debuted at 1° on the Canadian Albums Chart. In less than a month of release, the album was certified Platinum in Canada, and in less than two months later, the album was certified Platinum in the United States, selling over a million copies. The latter half, My World 2.0 is set for a March 2010 release. The lead single, “Baby” was released on January 18, 2010.
Bieber was named the hottest star of 2009 by J-14, newcomer of the year by MuchMusic, and listed by Celebuzz as one of the Top 10 YouTube stars of the decade.
Finally his fame arrived in Sicily. Vittoria Palazzolo and Giuseppina Mangiapane (on photo with Justin Bieber) are the founders of the newest fan club here in Sicily – congratulations and good luck!

L’angelo dalle ali rosa
January 11th, 2010 Posted 8:08 pm

Kleines Weihnachtsgedicht
December 21st, 2009 Posted 2:51 pm
KLEINES WEHNACHTSGEDICHT
When the last Kalendersheets
Flattern through the winterstreets
And Dezemberwind is blowing
Than is everybody knowing
That it is not allzuweit
She does come the Weihnachtszeit
All the Menschen, Leute, people
Flippen out of ihr warm Stüble
Run to Kaufhof, Aldi, Mess
Make Konsum and business
Kaufen this and jene things
And thechurchturmglocke rings
Manche holen sich a Tännchen
When this brennt they cry “attention”
Rufen for the Feuerwehr
“Please come quick zum löschen her
Goes the Tännchen off in Rauch
They are standing on the Schlauch
In the kitchen of the house
Mother makes the Christmasdschmaus
She is working, schufts and bakes
The hit is now her Jogurtkeks
And the Opa says as tester
“We are killed bis to Sylvester”
Then he fills the last Glas wine-
Yes this is the Christmastime.
Day by day was so vegang
And the holy night does come
You can think, you can remember
This is immer in Dezember
Then the childrenlein are coming
Candle-Wachs is abwärts running
Bing of Crosby Chrismas sings
While the towerglocke rings
And the angel look so fine
Well this is the Weihnachtstime.
Baby-eyes are kugelrund
The family feel kerngesund
When unterm Weihnachtsbaum tey’re hocking
Then nothing can them ever shocking
They are happy, are so fine
This happens in the Christmastime
The animals all in the house
The Hund, the Katz, the bird, the Maus
Are turning round the Weihnachtstree
Enjoy the day as never nie
Weil the find a lot of Schappi
In the Geschenkkarton from Papi,
The family begins to sing
And wieder does a Glöckchen ring
Zum song vom grünen Tannenbaum
Die Tränen rennen down und down
Till the mother lustvoll schreit
„The Gans im Ofen ist so weit“
Well this all belongs dazu,
Bis it really comes
THE WEIHNACHTSRUH

Dolls From Antiquity

Dolls – Toys From Antiquity
Author: Tom Littlepage
Dolls are believed to have been around since prehistoric times, and may well have been the earliest type of toy used by man. These dolls were certainly made of natural materials such as clay, wood, and fur. Many of them may have been used as children’s toys, but it is believed that they were often used to represent a deity, and likely played a key role in religious rituals and ceremonies.
None of these ancient dolls have survived through the ages, but dolls have often been found in Egyptian graves dating back as far as 3000 years. Some of these dolls were made of pottery, but most were made of flat pieces of wood painted with different designs, and with hair made of strings of wooden beads or clay. Dolls have also been found in the graves of Greek and Roman children, some with movable limbs and removable garments.
Later, Europe became a major producer of wooden dolls. Some of these dolls were made from tree stumps, while others were ‘peg’ dolls, made with simple peg joints and resembling a clothespin. Composition dolls, which were made from mixtures of pulped wood or paper that were molded under pressure, were developed in the 1800s. These dolls were durable and could be mass produced. Dolls with wax heads were also popular in the 17th and 18th centuries. Porcelain and bisque dolls became popular at the beginning of the 19th century.
The French “bebe” dolls were popular in the 1880s. Up until this time, most dolls represented adult figures. The bebes were different, because they represented younger girls. In the 1900s, realistic German bisque dolls were introduced and became very popular. These started an ongoing trend of creating realistic dolls.
Rag and cloth dolls have been hand made for centuries. ‘Rag’ dolls are made of any fabric, while dolls made specifically of linen or cotton are considered to be ‘cloth’ dolls. Commercial production of rag dolls was started in the 1850’s in England and America.
It was not until after the Civil War that doll making became an important industry in the United States. Most dolls were produced in New England, and were made of various materials such as papier-mache, leather, cloth, and rubber. Celluloid was developed in the 1860s and was used in the manufacture of dolls until the 1950s. Although these dolls could be mass produced very cheaply, they were extremely flammable, and would fade in bright light. Hard plastic dolls were made in the 1940s, and dolls of vinyl, rubber, and foam rubber were made in the 1950s and 1960s. The use of vinyl allowed doll makers to insert hair into the head, rather than having to paint the hair on, or to use wigs. Modern dolls have traditionally been toys for children, and ‘action figures’ representing ’superheroes’ are now very popular with boys. There are even ‘virtual’ dolls available on the Internet which can be designed, dressed up, and played with on web sites. Most dolls are now manufactured using modern materials and mass production techniques. However, dolls are also now collected by adults, and some manufacturers use the same kinds of materials that were used in the past, to create ’vintage-style’ collectible dolls. But whatever the type of doll, they all trace their roots back to prehistoric times. They are truly ‘toys from antiquity.’

How to Survive Doll Collecting

How to Survive Doll Collecting?

- How to Survive Doll Collecting
Buy what you love.
As long as you love each doll that you buy you will love doll collecting
. Doll collecting is a passionate pastime and choosing what type of doll to buy is a personal choice that should come from the heart. If you cannot walk past a baby doll without feeling it has your name written all over it, then buy baby dolls. If your passions for dolls dates back to childhood memories of playing with wooden dolls and you have a sentimental attachment to these dolls then collect these dolls. Do not let anyone influence you in your choice of dolls as a doll collection
brings responsibilities and you do at least want to enjoy fulfilling these duties.
Collect within your budgetary limits.
Most serious doll collectors would love to own a whole collection of OOAK (one of a kind) collectible dolls. Very few of us can afford to own even one. Decide what you can afford to buy and start a collection in this price class. There is nothing to prevent you from upgrading your collection at a later stage should your financial position improve.
It is Quality and not Quantity that counts.
You will be adding more value to your collection by purchasing one quality doll per year than adding a number of mediocre dolls. Doll collections can so easily get too big to really appreciate and doll collecting is a marathon not a sprint. Be selective and appreciate each doll when you do manage to buy it.
Do sufficient research.
Making an informed decision always gives us confidence in our actions. Read as much as possible about a particular type of doll and get as much background information on the doll artists whose dolls hold a particular attraction for you.
Do not let price guides rule your decisions.
The Blue Book is every collector’s Bible, but this book is a point of reference only as there are numerous factors that can influence the value of a doll. Always use your own judgment in conjunction with price guides.
Buy from a reputable dealer.
This is of particular importance when purchasing antique dolls. Member of NADDA (National Antique Doll Dealers Association) must adhere to a strict code of ethics and membership requirements include at least five years experience in buying and selling antique dolls. All dolls must be guaranteed as to age, attribution, and physical condition in writing upon purchase. With modern new collectible dolls a reputable dealer will have a good after sales record and be knowledgeable about market trends.
Join a doll club.
Doll clubs are a great way of expanding your knowledge of the doll collecting world and a great way to share your ideas and aspirations. There is so much to learn from other doll collectors and these clubs often organize doll shows and other events that can bring a new dimension to your doll collecting.
Realize that you may want to upgrade your collection at some time.
Tastes change as we develop new ideas and are exposed to different types of dolls. Never feel guilty about wanting to change the direction of your collection. The money you get from the sale of your collection can be used towards your new-found doll collecting interests.
Enjoy yourself!
Remember that doll collecting is a pastime and it is meant to be enjoyed. Never let your doll collecting habits get in the way of family and friends and treasure the dolls that you are lucky enough to acquire. Always appreciate the doll friends you meet along the way even more than the dolls and you will find that you will always enjoy yourself.
Happy doll collecting!

Should Kids Be Allowed to Play With Twilight Barbies?
November 6th, 2009 Posted 3:58 pm
Should Kids Be Allowed to Play With Twilight Barbies? by Thor Hanso
Barbie toys and dolls are popular toys for kids and many claim that they will never go out of style. Perhaps, one reason for their continued popularity is Mattel’s strategy of adapting the Barbie toys to contemporary settings. For example, the toy company has decided to release Barbie dolls representing the main characters of the book and movie “Twilight,” Bella and Edward.
These Twilight Barbies faithfully depict the innocent face and long brunette hair of Bella and the strong jaw line of Edward. It is also claimed that the glow on Edward’s face that is indicative of his status as a vampire is also evident on the male doll.
Both dolls are scheduled to be released on November 1, 2009 and will be priced at $24.95. However, some have questioned whether children should be allowed to play with these Twilight Barbies. First of all, Twilight fans are teenagers and young adults. For some, dolls are no longer fit for these ages. Nevertheless, some teens and young adults continue to play with dolls although the emotional and psychological effects are different.
Secondly, the theme of Twilight is not appropriate for young kids because they are better suited to teens and young adults. Thus, children may not be able to identify with the Twilight Barbies unlike the other Barbie dolls that are based on fairy tales. The kids are likely to find that it is difficult for them to incorporate the characters of Edward and Bella into the imaginary world that they enter when playing with dolls.
Thus, it is advisable for parents to buy the Twilight Barbies for their teenage or even young adult children but not for their young kids. It may even be better to purchase these unique Barbie dolls for the purpose of keeping them as collectibles and as investments.
